ICE BURR HOLE | Vigil (Season 3) | BBC

This ice burr hole was constructed from clear acrylic pipe and sheeting and fitted inside a platform built by the Pretty Scenic Ltd workshop team. The ice texture on the pipe was made using crystal clear caulking that I tinted with acrylic paint. The tinted caulking was dragged through the pipe to create scrape marks and applied with a palette knife to the outside. The outside of the textured pipe was then airbrushed lightly with grey/white paint to make it more opaque. A sheet of vac-formed textured plastic was mounted on top. The SFX team then covered the top and opening with snow for shooting.
