HANGERS

BLOOD OF MY BLOOD | SEASON 2 (2026) | Sony Pictures LTD

105 Hanger style swords were made for this season of Blood of my Blood. 45 were to be removable from the sheathes and a further 60 were made as permanently sheathed.

For the removable swords featured below, the handles were cast from PU rubber using a mould of an orignal. The inside of the mould was brushed with gold metallic powder before casting. After pouring the handle the CNC’ed perspex blades with a handle internal piece were immediately inserted into the mould to create a solid piece. These soft swords were made for horse riding as well as battle scenes.

At first we used a mould of the full item to create the sheathed swords. In order to increase productivity we then made a mould of just the sheath in order to maximise the use of the handle mould.

For the 60 sheathed swords featured below we cast entire pieces as well as followed the same step as the swords featured above. The blade with a handle was then inserted into a sheath mould full of PU rubber in order to create a solid piece requiring no assembly. The second method proved better and ensured that the blade always sat in the centre of the mould.

The inside of the sheath mould was brushed with a black powder for the leather section and with the same gold powders as the handles. Gold parts were buffed and aged using spray paints. The leather parts were aged and sealed with paints and glazes.
